Why It Matters

  • Prevents the “false confidence” trap (kids who look confident but aren’t safe yet)

  • Helps parents understand why progress sometimes feels like two steps forward, one step back

  • Aligns with our Path to Progress roadmap: C2C explains the feelings behind each skill milestone

Example: Back Float

  • Curiosity: wants to copy the instructor’s float

  • Bravery: leans back for the first time

  • Shock/Humility: tries alone, sinks halfway

  • Functional Confidence: floats 20 seconds in lesson

  • Real Competence: floats calmly in a lake

Every skill has its own mini-C2C arc, so a child might be Stage 4 in freestyle but Stage 2 in diving. That’s normal, and part of the growth journey.

Together, these three frameworks are the heart of our teaching philosophy:

3CRM: Are they ready to learn right now?

C2C: How will their confidence and competence grow?

P2P: What exact skills mark progress along the way?

They connect the dots between emotions, ability, and milestones, so every child’s journey feels safe, exciting, and measurable.
